Ofsted

We last had an Ofsted inspection in January 2026 and are proud to announce that West Ashtead Primary Academy is meeting the Expected Standards in all areas.

'Pupils thrive at this caring school. They greet each other with a smile and welcome visitors to their school with warmth and enthusiasm. Pupils feel safe and secure. Positive relationships are at the heart of the school’s work. Pupils understand the school’s ‘LEO Explorer’ characteristics of empathy, curiosity and resilience.'

'The school is highly inclusive. Leaders are ambitious for all pupils. They are determined to improve outcomes for vulnerable pupils. Staff engage very positively with families. Parents and carers are supportive and appreciate the inclusive practice at the school. A wide range of carefully chosen interventions supports pupil’s individual needs. Teachers' adaptations for disadvantaged pupils are effective.'

'Leaders have constructed a coherently planned curriculum. Logical sequences of lessons enable pupils to build their knowledge and skills from the early years through to Year 6. Reading is prioritised effectively. Staff check understanding and address misconceptions swiftly. Technology is used purposefully across subjects for all pupils to support lessons routinely, enabling pupils to revisit and review important learning when needed.'

Ofsted Inspection Support

LEO Academy Trust extensively supports its schools during Ofsted inspections. This includes building strong relationships from the start, providing dedicated members of staff on inspection day, and showcasing the Trust's collaborative approach. During an inspection, the CEO and/or Director of Education will attend team meetings alongside the Principal, or will delegate this responsibility to another member of the Trust's Executive Team. Members of the Trust’s central education and professional services teams will often attend other meetings with inspectors, alongside leaders from the school.  The CEO, Chair of the Trust Board and Chair of the local Academy Committee will represent the Trust's governance in meetings with the inspection team. While the Trust leads many aspects of the school's work, the school itself maintains control over its daily operations. More details can be found in our Scheme of Delegation.
